Seamen were vital in carrying the Negro World and leaflets in basic English to ports of Africa and Asia, and setting up chapters of the UNIA in Sydney, Australia and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Between 1923 - 1927 Amy 'Jacques' Garvey included the section

Marcus Garvey created the Pan African Flag which was adopted in the UNIA's Declaration of Rights in August 1920. This was triggered by a song written by
Will A. Heelan and J. Fred Helf "Every Race Has a Flag but the Coon" in 1900
and was a hit song for over 100 Artists in the USA and United Kingdom.
Marcus Garvey said in 1921
'Show me the race or nation without a flag, and I will show you a race of people without any pride. Aye! In song and mimicry they have said,
"Every race has a flag but the coon.
"How true! Aye! But that was said of us four years ago.
They can't say it now...'
Red - for the colour of the blood which men must shed for their redemption and liberty
Black - for the colour of the noble and distinguished race to which we belong
Green - for the luxuriant vegetation of our Motherland

The Black Star Line was formed in 1919. Marcus Garvey followed the model of the White Star Line formed in Liverpool, England in 1845.
Their three ships were:
1. SS Yarmouth - SS Fredrick Douglas
2. SS Shadyside
3. SS Kanawha - SS Antonio Maceo
Under The Black Cross Navigation and Trading Company formed in 1924 they secured one ship:
1. SS General Goethals - SS Booker T Washington

Marcus Garvey was Catholic and buried in the lower catacombs of St Marys Catholic Church, London, England. When re-interned to Jamaica his ceremony was held in Holy Trinity Cathedral before he was laid to rest in National Heroes Park.
Amy 'Ashwood Garvey was Catholic. Her church service was held at Holy Cross Church, Half-way Tree anad she was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Jamaica.
Amy 'Jacques' Garvey was Angelican. Her church service was held at St Andrews Parish Church, Half-way Tree and laid to rest in St Andrews Parish Church Cemetery, Jamaica.
